Product Description

Products Description of Hydroxyethyl Cellulose CAS#9004-62-0

Industrial grade hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) has a purity of ≥99% and appears as a white to off-white, odorless, tasteless, hygroscopic powder.
It decomposes at 260 °C (melting point) and boils upon decomposition. It has negligible vapor pressure at 25 °C and a relative density of 1.35 at 20 °C.
HEC dissolves in cold water but is insoluble in ethanol, ether and hot water. It is chemically stable, maintaining consistent viscosity over pH 2–12, but incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and heavy metal salts.

Product Application of Hydroxyethyl Cellulose CAS#9004-62-0

Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is used as a polymerized dispersing agent in oil-water based gel fracturing fluids, polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride production via cracking methods.
It serves as a latex thickener in paints, a humectant in electronics, and a cement anti-coagulant and water-retention agent in construction. It is also used for glazing in ceramics and as a binder in toothpaste.
Additionally, HEC finds wide applications in printing and dyeing, textiles, paper, pharmaceuticals, health products, food, tobacco, pesticides and fire extinguishing agents.
