Dibutyl sebacate (DBS) is the dibutyl ester of sebacic acid, widely used across multiple industries. It is commonly applied in food packaging plastics, medical devices and pharmaceutical products. It also serves as a desensitizer in Otto fuel II, a monopropellant for torpedo systems. In addition, DBS acts as a plasticizer for preparing free ethylcellulose films. It can also be used as the core material of liquid-core capsules. These capsules adopt cross-linked alginate/polyacrylamide membrane prepared by co-extrusion jet-break-up method, and are specially designed for the extraction of pesticide atrazine.
