Pigment Red 112

Pigment Red 112

Vibrant and Pure True Red:Pigment Red 112 exhibits a very vibrant true red color, appearing as a reddish-purple in concentrated sulfuric acid and a bluish-pink when diluted. Its hue is close to toluidine red (C.I. Pigment Red 3), and it is often used as a substitute for Pigment Red 3 in applications requiring high colorfastness.

Excellent Tinting Strength:Pigment Red 112 possesses extremely high tinting strength, with a specific surface area of 17 m²/g. A small amount is sufficient to impart a full, vibrant red appearance to the product, demonstrating excellent coloring efficiency.

Excellent Lightfastness and Weather Resistance:Pigment Red 112 exhibits excellent lightfastness, reaching grade 78 (8 being optimal). It maintains grade 78 in air-drying varnishes and baking enamels, with diluted colors reaching grades 6-7; in fabric printing pastes, it maintains grade 7. Its excellent environmental resistance makes it suitable for outdoor applications requiring high durability.

Good Thermal Stability:Pigment Red 112 possesses good thermal stability, withstanding temperatures up to 170°C and short-term exposure to 200°C for 5 minutes. Maintain color stability during high-temperature processes such as paint baking and plastic processing.

Product Description

Pigment Red 112 Product Description CAS#6535-46-2

Pigment Red 112, also known as Permanent Red FGR, Naphthol Red FGR, and C.I. Pigment Red 112, has the international index number C.I. 12370. Its chemical name is 3-hydroxy-N-(2-methylphenyl)-4-[(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl)azo]naphthalene-2-carboxamide, with the molecular formula C₂₄H₁₆Cl₃N₃O₂ and a molecular weight of 484.76. At room temperature, it is a red powdery solid with a density of 1.42–1.50 g/cm³ and an oil absorption of 30–40 ml/100g. Regarding solubility, Pigment Red 112 is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in oily solvents, and readily soluble in fatty acid salts. This pigment belongs to the monoazo pigment class (naphthol AS series), and is prepared by diazotizing 2,4,5-trichloroaniline and then coupling it with 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoyl-o-methylaniline. Pigment Red 112 is a very bright true red, with a hue close to toluidine red (C.I. Pigment Red 3). It has extremely high tinting strength and excellent lightfastness (lightfastness of 7-8), heat resistance up to 170–200°C, and acid resistance, alkali resistance, and water resistance all reach level 4 (level 5 is optimal). These excellent comprehensive properties make it widely applicable in various fields such as inks, coatings, plastics, and stationery.

Pigment Red 112 Product Applications CAS#6535-46-2

Pigment Red 112 is an important high-performance organic pigment widely used in inks, coatings, plastics, and other industries.

In the printing ink field, Pigment Red 112 is an important colorant for offset inks, water-based inks, gravure packaging printing inks, and flexographic printing inks. Its excellent tinting strength and lightfastness make it an ideal choice for high-quality printing inks.

In the coatings field, Pigment Red 112 is widely used in air-drying varnishes, baking enamels, industrial coatings, powder coatings, water-based decorative coatings, and solvent-based decorative coatings. It is particularly suitable for high-end automotive coatings and latex paints. At baking temperatures of 140–160°C, the concentration threshold is 0.1%; at 180–200°C, the limiting concentration is 2.5%.

In the plastics and rubber field, Pigment Red 112 can be used for coloring plastic resins, masterbatches, plastic products, and rubber. In stationery, Pigment Red 112 is widely used for coloring watercolors, oil paints, inkpads, and other stationery products. In addition, Pigment Red 112 can be blended with Pigment Red 12 for use in high-end automotive coatings, and blended with Pigment Yellow 83 and Pigment Violet 23 for use in wood staining.
