Ferric Sulfate

Ferric Sulfate

Highly Efficient Flocculation and Water Purification Performance: As an inorganic polymeric flocculant, ferric sulfate possesses a strong ability to neutralize the charge of suspended particles. The ferric hydroxide compound generated by hydrolysis has a large specific surface area and strong adsorption capacity. The flocculent particles are large, settle quickly, and easily stratify, with a wide applicable pH range (4–11).

Excellent Decolorization and Decontamination Capabilities: Ferrous sulfate exhibits excellent removal effects on suspended solids, organic matter, sulfides, and heavy metals in water. It also possesses multiple functions such as decolorization, deodorization, demulsification, and sludge dewatering. Its COD removal function is significantly superior to other water purification products.

Strong Oxidizing Properties: Ferrous sulfate has strong oxidizing properties in acidic solutions and can dissolve metals such as iron and copper. This characteristic gives it unique application value in metal surface treatment and chemical synthesis.

Good Water Solubility and Hydrolysis Characteristics: Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water and slowly hydrolyzes in aqueous solutions, resulting in an acidic reaction. It dissolves slowly in water, but dissolves faster in the presence of trace amounts of ferrous sulfate.

Product Description

Ferric Sulfate Product Description CAS#10028-22-5

Ferric sulfate, also known as high-ferric sulfate, has the chemical formula Fe₂(SO₄)₃ and a molecular weight of 399.88. At room temperature, it is a grayish-white or light yellow powder, belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. Its melting point is 480°C, and its density is 3.097 g/cm³. In terms of solubility, ferric sulfate is soluble in water, producing a reddish-brown aqueous solution; slightly soluble in ethanol; and insoluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, and concentrated sulfuric acid. Ferric sulfate is deliquescent in humid air, sensitive to light, and decomposes at 480°C to produce iron oxide and sulfur trioxide. Industrially, ferric sulfate is mainly produced by reacting sulfuric acid with ferric hydroxide or ferric oxide; it can also be prepared by reacting a hot solution of ferrous sulfate with an oxidizing agent (such as nitric acid or hydrogen peroxide). Ferric sulfate is an important iron salt with strong oxidizing and hydrolytic flocculation capabilities. These unique chemical properties make it widely applicable in water treatment, pigments, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and chemicals.

Ferric Sulfate Product Applications CAS#10028-22-5

Ferric sulfate is an important inorganic chemical raw material and multifunctional chemical, widely used in water treatment, pigments, pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, and analytical reagents, among other industries.

In the water treatment field, ferric sulfate is one of the most commonly used inorganic polymeric flocculants. It is widely used in the purification of drinking water and industrial water, as well as in the purification of industrial wastewater from mining, printing and dyeing, papermaking, food processing, leather, and metallurgy, and in urban sewage. Ferric sulfate hydrolyzes to form flocculent ferric hydroxide compounds, which have a large specific surface area and strong adsorption capacity, effectively removing suspended solids, organic matter, sulfides, and heavy metal ions from water. It also has functions such as decolorization, deodorization, demulsification, and sludge dewatering. In water treatment plants, ferric sulfate can be added directly at a concentration of 2–5%, while in industrial wastewater treatment, it is prepared at a concentration of 5–10%.
